As we prepare to celebrate "The Feast of Weeks" this coming weekend, (also called Shavuot (Leviticus 23:15-21) or Pentecost (Acts 2) in the New Testament) the girls and I have been memorizing the Ten Commandments and discussing there meanings in more detail. Savannah especially likes the explanations for kids on our laminated wall poster in our kitchen. We have also been reading Acts, studying the gift of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The birthday of the church! I don't want this post to get too long, but will recommend two great resources. #1. A Family Guide to The Biblical Holidays, by Robin Sampson & Linda Pierce and #2. God's Appointed Times: A practical guide for understanding and celebration the Biblical holidays, by Barney Kasdan.
"Pentecost not only memorialized the first giving of the law written on tablets of stone, but it also memorializes, on the same day many years later, the giving of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), when the law of God is written in the heart of the believers..." ~ Robin Sampson
This weekend we will enjoy a special meal in our home with friends, pray blessings over our children, and spend rich time in God's Word together. I am also making my favorite cheesecake recipe as it's customary to eat a dairy meal at least once during Feast of Weeks. I'm excited!
Are you celebrating "The Feast of Weeks" in your home? I would love to hear your plans!

I hope that this is something that we can do as Abbie gets older too. Where did you find the 10 commandments poster? I really like how basic it is and would love to have one for Abbie. Thanks for sharing this post Sheri.
Amanda, I bought the poster at a Christian bookstore in Kansas City, last year. You may be able to order it? Sorry I'm not more helpful. =)
Hugs ~ Sheri

Hi Sheri, I so love the idea of celebrating the Biblical holidays with our children. Maybe you've mentioned it before, but is there a book that you've read that has helped with the details of this? Thanks!
Blessings,
Carrie
Oh my! I don't know how I missed that. :) Thanks so much!
Hi there,
I saw your post at biblicalholidays.com and came over to see your post on the Feast of Weeks. We celebrated Shavuot this year for the second time. If you want to read my post about it, just scroll down to May 29.
I used Robin's book and another called Walk With Yeshua Through the Jewish Year. It had activities geared for the bit younger kids.
