Last Friday, my hero watched our girls (Thank you again sweetheart!) for several hours so I could do a little maternity clothes shopping... I haven't started wearing maternity clothes yet, but I think this will be the week!!!Savannah and Alisa were both born in the spring, and this sweet baby is joining us the end of August, thus I needed some summer clothes. I was blown away by how incredibly immodest many of the items were. Most everything I tried on was low cut; needing a cami or another layer in order to keep the cleavage from showing or seeing anything when I bent over. The dresses were also very short for spring and summer (well above the knee). It certainly isn't only teenagers who have to deal with immodest clothing, but we pregnant mommies do too!
Here, here and here are a few examples of what I'm talking about...
What are your favorite stores to shop for maternity clothing? Do you agree that trends have changed in maternity clothing as well?
On a happy note, I did find some very cute things (Yah!). There are still some wonderful choices out there if you take the time to look and try on. And, I was especially pleased to find nice seamless tanks to layer under my new summer shirts. This particular one is cut higher than most tanks/camis and very fitted, so there won't be any trouble when bending over.

I never understood why maternity dresses were so short. I honestly don't feel comfortable in any dresses that are above my knees. Probably because of the scars from the accident I was in a year ago but I really do prefer my dresses to be flowing to my ankles. Of course, that is if I ever wear dresses! ;)
I am the same way with shorts. I really don't wear shorts in the summer very often. I am usually needing to wear jeans while I am riding/training horses, go hiking, or am out camping/fishing. That, and I am still so self-conscious of the scars on my left knee/ankle so I don't like people staring at them. But I do wear shorts on an occasion.
Hope you are able to find even more maternity clothes that are modest for the summertime. :)
I really like the Mimi Maternity brand but I don't like their prices so I normally look on e-bay and find some great deals on there! They also have some wonderful nursing shirts and again I look on e-bay.
That is amazing how the trends have changed. When I bought maternity clothes everything was long from the dresses to the shirts. In fact I bought tons of capri pants cause I had 3 summer babies and I didn't want shorts. Glad you finally found some nice things!
Land's End had some reasonable choices. A lot of mine (dd was also born in August) my mother or I made. There are some super-easy patterns for maternity tops that are modest out there, so if you are okay on pants/skirts, you should be fine.

I was pregnant in the summer with my last baby and I found Old Navy had some modest choices, however, that could have changed. I bought a couple of skirts that were right below the knee there, and they were really cute. Good luck! I also dislike how it seems to be the trend to show your "nursing cleavage" right now too.
Blessings to you during this pregnancy.
Here in Israel we have a variety of modest maternity clothes, but then again, with such high birth rates among the religious population, this isn't surprising! I'm glad you were able to find something eventually. Layers can be a life-saver sometimes.
We have some really cute things at our Target. Good prices too!
Dear Sheri, sorry it has taken me so long to catch onto your incredibly exciting news!! I am so thrilled that you are having another baby! You must be over the moon. I pray that God gives you an enjoyable, healty pregnancy, and that He protects you and your baby. May God bless your family abundantly during this season! :D
First, congratulations on your pregnancy! Secondly, I was wondering if you have any recommendations of favorite non-maternity modest clothing? Maybe a certain store or website? I struggle with finding stuff that is trendy and modest at the same time! I looked through some of your old posts, but didn't find anything.
Blessings,
Shannon
I just had my son in January and had such a hard time finding modest Maternity clothes as well. I stocked up on the Liz Lange tee shirts from Target. They were comfortable and affordable. Plus the fabric was nice enough that I could dress them up a bit with a jacket over them; they might work best as we move into the spring and summer months!
